About our Hosts:
Richard Lyons, a partner at the Oakland, California law firm Wendel, Rosen, Black & Dean LLP, primarily focuses his practice on business and intellectual property law with an emphasis on representing companies in the green economy. He’s worked with green businesses for more than two decades and he has been a leader in the field. Dick was a key player in putting together the nation’s first utility-scale, institutionally funded wind power project. In the mid-80’s, he co-founded a clean-tech company to manufacture thin film solar cells. He was also lead counsel on the merger that created the first, and largest, national natural foods distributor. As a co-founder of Wendel Rosen’s Green Business Practice Group, he helped Wendel Rosen to become the first third-party certified green law firm in the country. Dick is a frequent speaker at conferences including West Coast Green and Natural Products Expo West.
Beyond his legal talents, Dick is also a natural for radio - he is an accomplished jazz guitarist, performing with his band, the Wakefield Jazz Quartet, who created the theme music for “The Wendel Forum.”
Bill Acevedo is a partner in the firm's Litigation practice. He also leads the firm's Green Business Practice Group. For green industry clients, he advises on various business issues and participates in organizations committed to promoting the development of sustainable business practices. Bill's green business clients tend to be media-based companies that focus on sustainability issues. They typically require legal services pertaining to entity formation, general business advice, contract negotiation/drafting, trademark and licensing issues, and employment counseling. Bill has been quoted on green business and sustainability matters in various periodicals, including the San Francisco Business Times, the East Bay Business Times and GreenBiz.com.
