"Catastrophic Events; Allocating Risk in the Lease; Insurance," National Retail Tenants Association Annual Conference

On Monday, October 8, 2012, Wendel Rosen real estate attorney Howard Lind will present “Catastrophic Events; Allocating Risk in the Lease; Insurance,” from 3:15 to 4:45 pm at the National Retail Tenants Association (NRTA) annual conference: “Expanding Knowledge 2012: Unlock the Power of Your Leases.”  This year’s conference will be held at the Desert Springs Marriott, Palm Desert, CA.

During the term of a typical retail lease, there are many opportunities for casualty losses and liability claims to affect the parties, often materially. Presented by a veteran real property attorney and an experienced insurance expert, this advanced course deals with the negotiation of those lease provisions addressing insurance, loss and liability. It will explore the application of common lease provisions to casualty losses. Anyone who has had to consult a lease after a casualty or claim knows the importance of these key lease clauses. Topics will include: Insurance Requirements and Rights; Potentially Uninsured Elements of a Loss; Indemnity and Hold Harmless; Damage, Destruction and Restoration; Termination and Force Majeure.
